Roisin Mongey

Róisín Mongey is a PhD student currently working with Dr. Matthew Hind and Dr. Charlotte Dean. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2016 where she studied natural sciences and specialised in molecular medicine. She carried out her MRes in Biomedical Research focusing on respiratory and cardiovascular science at Imperial College London in 2016/2017 before beginning her PhD.

The primary focus of her PhD is studying the role of retinoic acid in lung repair and regeneration. She is also investigating the effect of retinoic acid metabolism and signalling genes on lung function using bioinformatics and large cohort data sets. This multi-disciplinary approach aims to broaden our understanding of how the repair process in the lungs operates and highlight key target genes that contribute to degenerative lung diseases such as COPD and IPF.
